These are thieves on board your flights.
Criminals have occupied the air. They are working their skill and their scum at 30,000 feet above the ground.
According to the writer, Letty Jacinto-Lopez, of "Beware of the flying 'bandidos'" in The Philippine Star on March 19, 2013, these thieves target foreign airlines because the penalties are so lenient and they yield good results.
Police authorities reported that they catch thieves almost every week on flights to Hongkong and the thieves came from Mainland China.
This is how the thieves work : modus operandi.
What do you do about this criminality which has reached epidemic proportions? Do you give up flying and lose the art, the enjoyment and thrill of traveling?
No.
Ms. Letty Jacinto-Lopez enumerated in her article the following tips on how we can protect ourselves from these flying thieves.
1. Always lock your hand luggage.
2. Board the aircraft early so you can reserve or block the overhead compartment right beneath your seat.
3. Do not assume that luggage under your seat is safe.
4. Wear a handbag that you can secure with a small padlock or hardware.
5. Treat other passengers on board as strangers and therefore do not be trusting.
6. Do not assume that business class or first class travel is secure.
7. Travel in tandem-with a friend or family-so that you can both look after each other and your valuables.
Take note of Ms. Letty Jacinto-Lopez' tips and arrive at your destination safe and sound and with your valuables intact.
